What better way to get the word out than with my webcomic eh? Anyway, if anyone knows of an interactive/ad agency or a company that runs one Web site in Manhattan for a Senior Level/Associate Art Director position, let me know. Here's my portfolio. Mid-size to large companies -- no small start-ups please.

The Office has turned into a PG-13 romantic comedy. This season is sucking. Jim and Pam making googly eyes at each other sucks. Last weeks' one hour episode sucked. Tonight's episode about the commercial sucked. That commercial they did was just another example of the forced puppy-dog-sentimentality that has permeated this show like a cancer. This makes me realize how brilliant Ricky Gervais is. The British version's more cynical and awkward version just leaves no room for "feel-goodedness." (Is this a word?) And he was smart enough to cut the show off before they ran out of ideas, which is what is happening to the American version now. There is no bite, no mean-spiritedness anymore.
Good thing I have 30 Rock to keep me going. I'll just paraphrase my favorite line of the last week's episodes.
While Jack Donaghy is talking to private eye Steve Buscemi...
"I have a cousin that fixes basketball games.."
I found it bizarrely titilating to find two of my most intense Hollywood crushes doing scenes together. Carrie Fisher (going back to 1980) and Tina Fey (whom I have had a crush on since 2000 or 2001.
Next week, when I watch these shows on DVR, I'm going to 30 Rock first.

1. 15 Step - Doesn't do much for me.
2. Bodysnatchers - Cool guitar work
3. Nude - Drags a bit. Beginning sounds like Shake the Disease by Depeche Mode
4. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi - I like this one a lot. especially the repetion of the scales. I like how it's called Weird Fishes and I feel like I'm underwater
5. All I Need - I like the keyboards that come in at the end
6. Faust Arp - I like the acoustic action
7. Reckoner - I like the tambourine action. And then the orchestral action. The beat reminds me of Idioteque
8. House of Cards - "I don't wanna be your friend. I just wanna be your lover." When was the last time Radiohead did a straight up love song? Still works, but not my favorite track.
9. Jigsaw Falling Into Place - I like the intensity
10. Videotape - Love this one. My favorite track. I'm a sucker for keyboards.

It was Shawn Marion of the Phoenix Suns not Lebron. But I figured most non-basketball people wouldn't know who he is. The sad thing was, I actually sat on my couch and really enjoyed the voice message. It kind of made my day.

Greg Oden's injury for the entire season is not only a blow to the Portland Trailblazers and its fans, it hurts for anyone even remotely interested in the NBA. I modeled my "game" after Hakeem Olajuwon and was looking forward to seeing Oden develop. I at least look forward to utilizing him in NBA Live 08.
I checked out The Hold Steady's Craig Finn perform an acoustic performance at Barnes and Noble Union Square tonight. He was great. All two of his fricking songs. I realize it's free, and I'll be going to a free show featuring the whole band on Monday but still. I also knew there was going to be some author there as well, but I didn't realize how much of a buzzkill she'd be. First of all, it's hosted by Air America host . She was absolutely horrible. She was completely reading off a script and her forced jokes may have made Oprah viewers give her a polite chuckle.
Anyway, the author reminded me of the actress who played Forrest Whitaker's wife in The Last King of Scotland. The one that gets chopped up. One of the most disturbing movie scenes I've seen in a while but I digress. So this Lanpher chick is kissing the author's ass and 90% of the crowd is obviously waiting for Finn to play. He finally does a song off his first album. (I don't have it, and I'm too lazy to look it up). It was good. Then more readings by the author. Then Finn gets interviewed which was cool. Then he plays an outtake from Boys and Girls in America.
Oh, and throughout the whole performance this AV dweeb directly to my right is giving instructions in his microphone like he's yapping on his cell phone. I know it's necessary, but come on.
Finally, after an hour, it's over. What a waste of a night. Two songs, a lame host and a boring author. Boo, Barnes and Noble Upstairs at the Square.
Boo.

This strip is based on my friend Jeremy Thompson. We were sitting at a diner one day when he announced, "I want to try to get a mealplan at Stevens." Stevens Institute of Technology is the local college here in Hoboken NJ. I tried giving him input as far as how to do it. He'd have to take at least one class. Considering he's a web designer and Stevens is primarily an engineering school, he may have to choose one of those easy electives.
Tennis Anyone?

Indie Spinner Rack is a podcast devoted purely to independent comics runy by Charlito and Mr. Phil. I started listening to it last summer and met them at the New York Comic Con earlier this year. I gave them my latest collection The Dim Sum Club at MoCCA and they mentioned it on their latest podcast. They're usually an hour long or so, but this one was two hours because they took the time to talk about everything everyone gave to them.
I get the mention 1 hour and 39 minutes in for those who listen on iTunes. But by listening here, I'm about 5/6th's of the way through. They said it looked like a "typical newspaper strip that's humerous and funny."
Indie Spinner Rack is one of the best things that has happened to independent and web comics. I thank them sincerely.

MoCCA has come and gone and it was a good time. People actually have been telling me they've seen the site before so that's encouraging.
I'll keep this brief, but I just want to mention Jodah Thayer of A Chipmunk and a Lizard, who was my table partner for the two days. I was glad to have someone listen to my whiney observations. Ali Solomon of Strings Attached, who survived her first MoCCA festival, and Cheryl Gladstone of Stinkypoo, who used my comic while she was helping a friend teach a class at Hunter College.

The great MoCCA (Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art) Festival is in less than two weeks! It's on June 23-24, 2007 at the
Puck Building (293 Lafayette at Houston), in New York City. Hours are 11:00am - 6:00pm. I'll be in the middle room debuting my latest and greatest collection, The Dim Sum Club for only $3! Hope to see there!
And why should buy this if you can get it online for free? Well it's because this will take up space in your bathroom or living room! Enough said!

So I'll be in Idaho and Vancouver for the last two weeks of May, so there won't be another strip until June. My biggest issue for the longest time was the fact that I won't be watching the season finales of Lost and Heroes with the rest of the East coast. No way can I wait two weeks to watch it on my DVR. I'll be in Idaho for the first week, where I'm staying with my wife's nature loving uncle -- somehow I don't think the war with The Others and Sylar's plan to blow up New York will be his top priority.
But fear not! My trusty cousin Colman will be taping them for me. And by the time I get to Vancouver later in the weekend, they'll be waiting for me.
I'm not one to come up with theories on my own, but knowing that the Lost producers cite Stephen King's The Stand, and Alan Moore's Watchmen as influences, I'll be reading the former during the trip. (I'm already 180 pages in.) I read Watchmen last year, so it's still pretty fresh in my mind; and being a graphic novel, it's much easier to reference it. That being said, I like The Watchmen Theory the best, mostly because it's based on somthing solid.
I'm looking forward to the Heroes finale more, only because I know it's going to wrap up the season. On the other hand, Lost provokes me to try to figure out what it's all about.
Sometime over the summer, I'll be writing a "Which is the Better Show" column complete with a system I saw based on a "Is Lebron or Kobe Better? " article I read on ESPN.
Speaking of...
For the second time this series I have a Nets ticket waiting for me but alas, a good friend is in town and we'll be at a bar anyway. Despite the win yesterday, I'm still not convinced they can take the series -- forgive my pessimism. Vince Carter is such an inconsistent superstar, and they only scored 6 points in the 4th quarter. They were lucky they were up by 20-something points heading into the 4th and the Cavs played just as bad. Also, what am I going to do if they reach the next round and I can't even be in New Jersey to enjoy it?
I've been busy all week putting together my latest collection titled, "The Dim Sum Club" for MoCCA (The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art Festival in Soho.) Once you see the cover, you'll notice it has absolutely nothing to do with Dim Sum. Anyway, time to see how Jim reacted to Pam telling him that it was because of him, she called off the wedding.
Oh, did you notice I didn't mention 24? Yeah, old news but it sucks this year. The only thing interesting about it is a recent report that it actually encourages US soldiers to torture. I'll be watching it when I get back to Jersey.

I have finally finished redesigning the site! I am celebrating by finally finishing my last 10 of the 50 Greatest Shocking Moments of My Life! Due to its popularity, I'll be coming up with more lists. Because everyone loves lists.
I've omitted the comics I've done in college and the ones right after. They just have a different feel and sensibility altogether. Maybe I'll gradually sneak them in a "vintage" section under features.
As you can see, it's much more Web 2.0-y and blog-y. Yes, I'll be rambling about random pop-cultural and NBA musings, amongst other things. Oh, I guess independent comics too.
Hope you enjoy, and let me know what you think!
