I think VH1 now consists of "list" and I Love the (choose the decade) shows. I was checking out the 100 Greatest Shocking Moments in Rock n' Roll History the other night. I found it entertaining, but not nearly as shocking as any of these hair-raising events in my life. These will be separated in five intallments of ten.

50. Discovering that babies were made by sex when I was in the fifth grade. (1985)
My parents told me it was "natural" every time I asked, so this was quite a revelation to me.
49. Finding out Freddie Mercury had AIDS (1991)
Most of the kids I went to high school were classic rock fans -- which represented the most masculine guys. I wasn't either a jock or a guido but there was just no way that the (just discovered because of Wayne's World) Boehemian Rhapsody genius was gay.
48. Bailing out of Karate at brown belt (1990)
I started karate in 3rd grade after watching a few Saturday afternoon Kung-Fu movies. I still got my ass kicked so I figured what's the point.
47. Asking my little league baseball coach if I could be up fifth instead of my usual 15th because I sucked and really having to fight to hold back tears (1983)
They actually invented a position for me. It was called "left-right" or "left-out" or some shit like that. It was a fourth position in the outfield so that the two surrounding fielders could cover a fly ball for me. I remember passing a toll both with my parents and when the collector asked what position I played, I was really ashamed.
46. Missing three pop flies in the outfield (1984)
Hence the created outfield position. (see number 47)
45. My cat Morris puking for the first time (1986)
It wasn't the puke itself. It was more of the noise that he made -- like he was coughing. And yes, his name was Morris. "That's like naming your dog Snoopy", some a__hole told me.
44. Sitting through The Breakfast Club with my dad (1985)
43. Figuring out that going to nursery school didn't involve my mom being there (1976)
I got left back when I was three. Sit on that for a minute.
42. Dropping a match on a bunch of dandelions while walking home from school. (1987)
My friend Erwin and I would always walk home from school together. We were at "playing with matches" phase and decided to drop one on a bunch of dandelions right by the railroad tracks. The flames were instant, but we were lucky enough to stomp it all out.
41. Sitting through Fatal Attraction with my mom (1987)
